Additionally, users will be able to explore a feature designed to condense and summarize the topics discussed in video comments.
Both features will be available for testing on YouTube’s experimental platform, youtube.com/new, on an opt-in basis.
The conversational tool, leveraging advanced language models, aims to enhance viewers’ engagement with video content. Users can ask questions or seek recommendations related to the video they’re watching, seamlessly interacting with AI without interrupting playback.
Initially launching in the United States and on Android devices, the tool will offer a new “Ask” option on the video’s watch page for YouTube Premium members.
While the comments summarizer utilizes generative AI to organize and condense comment section discussions, helping viewers stay updated on conversations without reading every comment individually.
YouTube believes these tools may also benefit content creators by providing insights into their audience’s interests and enabling them to produce relevant content. Creators will even have the option to remove comments based on specific topics.
This experiment will initially be conducted in English, with plans to expand and refine the features based on user feedback.
